Is singing a good career to follow for me?

i have a good singing voice, but its nothing special. but i have an unconditional love for music. its all i want to do. i don't see how anything else in this world can make me happy. im just a girl from the suburbs with no contacts...should i follow this career? or should i follow the career for something like nursing which gives me little pleasure...but gives my parents plenty...
