89 yamaha tw200 no spark?

i just put a new motor in it but had to use my old stator and rotor got it back together no spark all my wires are connected as they were i know i forgot to time the rotor in the grove in the shaft for the pulsar coil but would this cause it not to spark at all also all parts came out of a bike that was running the day before
